Located in beautiful Kootenay Valley, Peak Danceworks is located in Invermere, BC (1 - hour from Banff, on the other side of the Rockies).  Under the direction of Amanda Affonso, Peak Danceworks offers dance programming in Jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, musical theatre, hip hop and acro.  Our programs include ADAPT and RAD examinations, competitions and summer camps.

With 200 dancers in the community, we are seeking full-time ADAPT teachers to provide instruction in jazz and tap to junior, pre-intermediate and intermediate students.  If you have a passion for teaching and love to work with children please contact us for more information at: info@peakdanceworks.com.

Biography

Gwen Bloom has over 35 years of dance experience as an award winning performer, teacher, choreographer and examiner.


As a performer she has been on the Juno Awards, TV specials and on stage at Deerhurst Inn and the Skyline Hotel to mention only a few.

With her Intermediate Certificate for the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), her Teachers Certificate with Dance Masters of America (DMA) and membership with the British Association of Teachers of Dance (BATD) she is well versed in the genres of dance.

Gwen taught at Sheridan College in the Music Theatre program heading up the dance department for 10 years and also taught and choreographed for The Royal Conservatory of Music.

Gwen is well recognized for her choreography accomplishments with amateur dancers winning many top awards. They have gone on to further their training at the post secondary level and are successfully performing in theatres, movies, TV, Theme Parks, Cruise Ships and Broadway. Her credits broaden professionally to include The Toronto Argo Cheerleaders, An Evening At Le Cage, CNE Grandstand and Legends In Concert. Many musicals including Grease, A Chorus Line, Nine as well as various nightclub revues and Corporate Functions with Bloomusic Productions.

Gwen also judges across Canada and the U.S. for such as Candance, Starcatchers and DMA.

She is a very proud examiner with Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT) and has built an excellent reputation with students and teachers. She is grateful for the years of training and mentoring afforded her by Brian and Faye Foley which she still enjoys today.
