HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Its a little late but a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to all ADAPT Teachers, their students and families. As we enter the last year of the 20th Century, Faye and I wish all of you a very successful year. A year filled with health, love and prosperity.
We hope you have all enjoyed your Christmas break and that you had some quality time with your family, friends and relatives. And most important, that you had a well rewarded rest.
We have completed the 1998 Fall Examination Tour and I must say the results have been excellent. Its wonderful to see the high quality of work being produced by Teachers, teaching the ADAPT Syllabus. We look forward to the winter and spring examinations and anticipate the same quality results. Congratulations teachers! Keep up the great work!
We hope you are enjoying the new "Student Examination Reports". We feel they are more professional and easier to understand. So far, they have been a big success.
EXAMINATION REMINDERS
Teachers, please try not to start your examination day before 9:30 AM and try not to go beyond 5:30 PM.
Also, please remember to put your studio name, address and exam day date on each master sheet of candidate names you give to the examiners. These sheets must have the candidates names typed correctly in upper and lower case as the certificates are printed from these lists. Including your mailing address permits Mrs. Snell to confirm the address for mailing out the certificates. It also keeps our database up to date for the mailing of newsletters.
Intermediate Three and Advance candidates are allowed a 5 minute recess (at the half waypoint) in order to get a quick drink and fresh air.
Exam classes below that level really do not require a break or drinks during the examination. Of course puffers, Kleenex etc. are allowed.
AUGUST SUMMER WORKSHOPS
In the summer of 1999, ADAPT will hold two Summer Workshops along with an Intensive Teachers Training Course. The East Workshop (ADAPT National Convention) will be held in Toronto from July 19th to 25th inclusive. The West Workshop will be held in Lethbridge from August 9th to 15th inclusive (see Schedule on Page 3).
Both Summer Workshops will offer student classes the first 5 days and an intensive Teachers Course the last three days. The Teachers Course will be to introduce the total revisions for the NEW Intermediate & Advance work. We may also do some review of the Junior and Pre-Intermediate work presented at the last Teachers Course if demand warrants it.
The new Intermediate and Advance Syllabus is outstanding and we are sure every teacher will want to see it and teach it. We will have quality demonstrators to dance the new Intermediate & Advance work in an examination style presentation for all the levels at both the East and West Summer Workshops.

SYLLABUS REVIEW
Review of the Junior & Pre-Intermediate Tap & Jazz Syllabus may be conducted during the first 4 days of the Summer Workshop, but only on request. If you are interested in such a review, please let Gail Snell know so that we can assess the level of interest and determine when/how this "refresher" can be accommodated.
ACCOMMODATION REMINDER
The following is a reminder taken from the September 15, 1997 Newsletter: "Because of the great expense in travel, it has been necessary for all teachers to share in hotel room costs (room and tax only). Teachers will be responsible for one night hotel for each day of examinations. The teachers in each city or community may choose hotels. Faye and I very much enjoy staying at suitable Bed & Breakfast locations or at smaller hotels. All transportation will continue to be the responsibility of ADAPT."
TAP TEACHER JOB OPPORTUNITY
Spectrum City Dance Studio located in Prince Rupert British Columbia is looking for a Tap teacher with a second specialty (jazz, hip hop or musical theatre). Spectrum City is. It is home of the Annual BC Dance Competition. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a brand new state of the art dance studio. For more information, call ADAPT dance teacher Ella Ferland at 250-624-6131.
NEWS ITEMS/JOB OPENINGS
Do you have any news to share with other ADAPT teachers? Do you have an opening for a dance teacher? If you do, let Gail Snell know at 403-254-6660 or e-mail to the address below and we will be happy to consider including it in a future Newsletter.
SPRING COMPETITIONS
Good luck to all ADAPT students entered in Spring Dance competitions including those participating in Can-Dance 99!
We look forward to seeing you at upcoming exam sessions or at one of this summers ADAPT Workshops! Incidentally, information about hotel accommodations in Toronto and Lethbridge will appear in the next Newsletter.
Regards,
Brian & Faye
