A NEW DANCE SEASON BEGINS!

Faye & I would like to begin this season’s first ADAPT Newsletter by welcoming all the new teachers who are "adapting" to our Syllabus. Congratulations and thank you for choosing ADAPT

SUMMER WORKSHOPS

We have just completed two very successful ADAPT summer Workshops. Both the Toronto & Lethbridge events were well attended by students and teachers. Faye & I enjoyed presenting the new Intermediate, Pre-Advance and Advance Tap and Jazz Syllabus as well as the new ballet work. A special thank you to Larissa Kouznetsova for all her hard work on the Ballet Syllabus and to Nina Pavlova for her professional and encouraging input.

ALASKA CRUISE 2000

We are still taking reservations for the ADAPT 20th Anniversary Cruise. The cruise/conference will depart the second week of August 2000 for seven days of fantastic sightseeing up the Alaska coast. Please consider joining Faye & myself to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ADAPT For further information call Lisa Gristo at 905-477-6700 or check our web site for details under "Newsletters" at: www.adaptsyllabus.com. Assistant teachers are welcome. Remember that spouses, friends and family are also welcome. Let's celebrate together!

THE NEW SYLLABUS

The new Intermediate & Advance work is not mandatory for the ADAPT examinations until the fall of 2000. The old Intermediate & Advance syllabus levels will be accepted for the 1999/2000 examination year.

We encourage teachers to begin working on the new syllabus work immediately but you may have a full year to complete the change over.

Please review the new notes for the "set combinations". There are corrections that have been made since the Summer Workshops as well as count corrections with more style suggestions. The new pages should replace your old pages which you received at the summer workshops. If you attended one of the Workshops and have not yet received the corrected Set Combinations, please contact Mrs. Snell at 403-254-6660 or at: gail.snell@home.com. Faye & I are also available via E-mail at: adapt@lindsaycomp.on.ca

NEW VIDEO

A video of the ADAPT Syllabus’ new "set combinations" and warm up material for all the jazz & tap levels, will be available at the fall workshops (price to be determined). This video will show the proper counts, directions and steps. Students at the same dance levels that the set combinations were created for will demonstrate them on video. In this way, most of your questions on the work will be answered.

FALL TEACHERS' WORKSHOP FOR THE NEW
INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCE SYLLABUS

There will be 4 two day ADAPT Teachers' Workshop on the new Intermediate and Advance work this Fall. There will be one day for the new jazz work and one day for the new tap work, including the set combinations and set center floor warm-ups. EXAMINATION SCHEDULE

Each year Mrs. Snell tries her very best to give teachers the dates & times they would like for their examinations. Each new season brings new teachers and growth to the ADAPT system. Please speak to Mrs. Snell ASAP to set your examination dates and in studio workshops. We will never please every single teacher each year. Many teachers have had their dates for many years and have reserved dates two or three years in advance. Please try to understand we are doing our best to create a schedule acceptable to all of you and at the same time recognizing the need for Faye, Debbie, Janet and myself to travel across Canada from coast to coast!

RECOGNITION FOR BRIAN

This past summer in Boston, Brian received a Life Time Achievement Award from American Dance Awards for his contribution to the world of dance. As well Brian was a faculty guest teacher at the World Jazz Congress held in Buffalo, New York.
