Aniko Kalocsai-Kryski

Aniko Kalocsai-Kryski has danced for over 25 years—jazz, tap, lyrical and RAD ballet. As a young dancer, she competed in various competitions on provincial, national and international levels plus the World Tap Competition in Berlin (1999). Her ballet skills were showcased with Alberta Ballet’s Nutcracker and Paquita. Performances in world-class shows included: Calgary Exhibition and Stampede; 1988 Calgary Olympics Opening Ceremonies; 1997 World Police and Fire Games and CFL Grey Cup.

Dance has given Aniko the wonderful gift of being able to travel all over the world while doing what she loves! With Calgary Dance Express she toured the USA, Japan, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. As a member of the Tap and Swing Company, “Happy Hoppers,” she danced in Hungary and Germany. Seven exciting years were spent with Carnival Cruise Lines performing Broadway/Las Vegas-type shows (involving Adage and Magic) while cruising in the Caribbean.

In 2006 Aniko fulfilled her dream of owning her own dance studio in West Kelowna, BC. Dance City Academy has grown and succeeded over the past 14 years. This has allowed her to fulfill another dream—passing on her passion for Dance! Also, under her direction, the DCA “Tour Group” travels and successfully competes internationally.

The ADAPT program and mentorship of Brian and Faye Foley have been a tremendous part of Aniko’s dance journey. It has been a remarkable experience that has has now come full-circle—from being examined by the Foley’s as a young dancer, to having them examine students in her studio over many years, to becoming an ADAPT Examiner. She looks forward this opportunity to be a part of the team that supports this tremendous program and through it, contribute to the spread of the love of dance and its innumerable line-long gifts.
